RAQUEL RODRIGO’S EMBROIDERY IN FORT WORTH
Public Art
Client: Sundance Square
Location: Fort Worth, TX, USA
Artist: Raquel Rodrigo
Scope: Art consulting, Artist Representation, Curation, and Production
For our latest public art project in Fort Worth for Sundance Square, we invited Spanish artist Raquel Rodrigo / Arquicostura, represented by JUSTKIDS in the US, to create a site-specific installation in the heart of Downtown.
Located in the Sundance Alley, across from the landmark Sundance Square Plaza, the installation brings Raquel Rodrigo’s distinctive approach to embroidery into the urban landscape, transforming an intimate, traditionally domestic technique into a large-scale architectural artwork.

Raquel Rodrigo works with colorful thread hand-stitched onto metal mesh, translating the familiar language of cross-stitch into a new material and spatial context. Historically associated with women and passed down through generations, embroidery takes on a new presence in public space, while preserving the meticulous, handmade nature of the practice.
Curated and produced by Justkids for Sundance Square, the artwork was entirely handmade in Raquel Rodrigo’s studio in Valencia, Spain, before traveling to Texas for installation. Set against the brick architecture of Sundance Alley, the work introduces color, texture and softness to the urban environment while retaining the slow, meticulous and deeply human character of its making.
“I wanted to bring into the public space a feminine art that has lived in homes around the world for generations, bringing visibility to a practice that has long remained unseen.”
— Raquel Rodrigo
The project is part of our ongoing collaboration with Sundance Square to bring contemporary public art and placemaking to Downtown Fort Worth, building on their continued commitment to enriching the downtown experience through art and culture.
