Legendary New York artist Doze Green introduced his metaphysical reinterpretation of life with “The Divine Sparks Project” openign July 22nd, 2017 and kicking off theweek long art programming for UNEXPECTED in Downtown Fort Smith.

Encompassing diverse media such as  animation, muralism, light and sound installation, The Divine Sparks Temple  by Doze  intercepts various disciplines of art within Fort Smith’s former New Theater, breathing new life into the former Art Nouveau playhouse originally built in  1910. The installation, which was produced in a time frame of 5 weeks, marks a revival for the historic landmark that had remained dilapidated and closed to the public for more than 30 years. The space has now become a catalyst for community led programing towards the arts, revitalizing urban life in Fort Smith. 

 

The Divine Sparks project is a monumental expansion by acclaimed New York artist DOZE GREEN. Encompassing diverse media and intercepting various disciplines of art, this ambitious experiment breathes new life into a former 1910’s playhouse. The installation opened to select audiences as the launch event for the third edition of The Unexpected Project in Downtown Fort Smith. In this new and exclusive video Green’s speaks about his approach of the space, his youth in New-York and the importance of reinterpreting underground cultures and places.
