CAMILE WALALA’S AIRPORT HANGARS AT XNA, BENTONVILLE
Public Art
Client: OZ Art
Location: Bentonville, Northwest Arkansas
Artists: Camille Walala
Service: Artist Representation, Concept, Curation, Development and Production
For the first time ever, we tackled the curation of two airport hangars and an indoor airport lounge titled “Ice and A Slice” by London-based French artist Camille Walala for OZ Art. Located on Regional Avenue, just north of the XNA airport terminal building in Bentonville, the buildings can be spotted from high above, giving a taste of what lies outside the arrivals' doors.
A special lounge, part of “Ice and A Slice”, sits inside the XNA Airport to give travelers time and space to unwind and provide an enjoyable way to spend time.
“Taking over XNA's airport with 2 pieces - one a mural on two massive buildings and the other one an installation right inside the airport - was incredibly appealing to me because of the magnitude and the high visibility of the project. I loved that I was able to blow up a design and translate it to a colossal scale and that the surface it sat on would also add to its sizing. I kept the boldness in mind as when the planes fly over I wanted the details of the graphics and colours to be seen from the sky to inspire travelers, coming or going, and connect with the world
