Hilda Palafox paints elegant, commanding women with outsized bodies in compositions that envision a matriarchal society. Trained in graphic design,Palafox is best known for large scale canvas and murals in which these women are accompanied by symbols like snakes, vessels, columns, and celestial orbs. She also produces works on paper, ceramics and textiles. Palafox is a graduate of La Escuela de Diseño del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. Her contemporary interpretations of Mexican mythology and folklore has appeared in cities like Denver, Montreal, Fort Smith and Madrid, at times signed with her pseudonym, Poni. She has collaborated with brands like Vans, Red Bull, Kichink, Mercadorama and Google among others. Her Illustrations have graced covers and publications like Juxtapoz, Frankie Magazine, Travesías, Gatopardo and Instagrafite.
